HELP IS AVAILABLE FROM STEVENAGE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council have a statutory duty to provide information, advice and guidance to all homeless people.   They also have a duty under certain circumstances to house  people including those with dependant children, 16 and 17 years olds, care leavers and those leaving the armed forces among others. Stevenage Borough Council make referrals to Stevenage Haven.  Stevenage Haven can only accept referrals.  If a bed is available it is allocated on a first come, first served basis although please note that we are usually full.

The Citizens Advice service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.  The service aims: (1) To provide the advice people need for the problems they face. (2)  To improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.

SSTAC is a newly set up charity linked to Stevenage CAB.  SSTAC is part of the Community Legal Advice Service. This provides specialist legal advice by telephone. Specialists can advise on debt, employment, benefits and housing matters.  It is a free, government funded, confidential, telephone advice service.

Crisis campaigns on behalf of single homeless people and provides links from its site to a wide range of help.

Herts Young Homeless Group is an independent charity providing support, advice, and information to young people, enabling them to secure and maintain appropriate accommodation.  Crashpad offers safe, emergency accommodation for homeless 16 and 17 year olds and care leavers (up to the age of 21).  HHAH as an integral part of HYHG, aims to promote health for homeless people of all ages.

The Big Issue exists to offer homeless and vulnerably housed people the opportunity to earn a legitimate income. We produce a weekly entertainment and current affairs magazine which vendors buy from us for 75p and sell to the public for £1.50, keeping 75p for themselves. Vendors must adhere to a code of conduct whilst selling the magazine.
