Stevenage Haven is one of four homeless charities which have been selected to take part in Sleep Out 2006 in the ground of St Albans Abbey on 1st December 2006. Each charity receives the sponsorship money raised by its supporters, both young and old, who sleep out at the event in December. More than 500 people, including two Mayors, slept out at Sleep Out 2005 and approximately £31,500 was raised for the three homeless charities supported.
Brian Peyton who chairs the Sleep Out Organising Committee and his wife Jean, also a committee member, visited Chris Foster House, Stevenage Haven's emergency single homeless hostel, and met with Mike Nash, Service Devlopment Manager, and Barbara Howard, the Director. Barbara Howard said "I am delighted that we have been selected to take part in Sleep Out 2006 and we look forward to mobilising our many supporters to take part in this exciting event which gives those of us who have a home a taste of what is like to be homeless."
