21 Nov 2007 - Paul Chappell retires as Trustee

Paul Chappell retired as Chairman of the Management Board and as a Trustee of Stevenage Haven after 10 years dedicated service. Paul has overseen Stevenage Haven's transition from a night shelter to a 24 hour a day emergency hostel with day services and from an uncertain economic status to a secure long term project. Paul has also been a very effective fundraiser organising a number of Annual Golf Days through his company C-View and raising many thousands of pounds for Stevenage Haven. Paul's contribution to the governance of Stevenage Haven will be sorely missed and we are very grateful for all the hard work he has put in over the years.

As we say goodbye to Paul Chappell we welcome Richard Ball as a new Trustee of Stevenage Haven. Richard is Chairman of the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust and Trustee of the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. He is also a school governor and a Parish Councillor. Richard is also Chair of the Herts County Council School Admission and Exclusion Appeal Panels.

Richard worked for British Railways for 40 years retiring in 1993 as National Train Planning Manager. For the next 10 years he worked as a Railway Operating Consultant mainly in the UK but with some work in Italy and Peru.

Richard is married with three grown up children and four grandchildren. His leisure activities include gardening and natural history.

Alan Curtis, previously Vice-Chair and Treasurer, takes over as Chair of Trustees, while Richard Ball becomes Vice-Chair.
